Nursing Assistant

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a vital part of the health care team. The U.S. Department of Labor states that employment for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will grow by more than 19% in the next ten years. Predominantly this is in response to the aging population of the U.S. and the associated long-term care required for these patients.

This program of study is based on the standards established for the South Carolina Nurse Aide curriculum. Study includes classroom, lab experience, clinical practice in a selected facility and American Heart Association Basic Life Support/CPR training for Healthcare Providers. Nurse assistants provide basic personal care for patients in health care facilities, hospitals, and in-home health care. They provide care with vital signs, dressing, feeding, bathing, ambulating, and personal assistance.

Students completing the program will be eligible to sit for the South Carolina Nursing Assistant Certification Examination.
