Health Science and Nursing Testing Information

HEalth Occupation Basic Entrance Test (HOBET)

HOBET is a program entry requirement for all students seeking entry in the Practical Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing programs. Students are required to score a minimum of 65% in the mathematics and reading sections of the test to be eligible for clinical entry. Students majoring in an Associate degree or diploma program in Health Science are eligible to take HOBET in effort to gain additional Merit points.

The HOBET V testing dates for Fall 2014 are:

  • September 4

  • September 11

The HOBET test is offered at the Greenwood and Laurens campuses. Test appointments are limited and requests are filled on a first-come, first served basis. To request an appointment to take the test, students must use the online HOBET Test Appointment Request Form. HOBET requests will NOT be accepted by phone or in person. Students must pay the HOBET fee to the Business Office or County Campus BEFORE submitting a request. Click here to go to the HOBET Test Appointment Request Form.

Preparation Resources



WorkKeys is a program entry requirement for all students seeking entry into Respiratory Care. Students are required to score a minimum of 4 in all testing areas to meet the Program-Ready requirement. Students should have this completed by the application deadline.

WorkKeys testing is offered every Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.. No prior registration is required; however, the participant must visit the Continuing Education office (Located in “GA” Building) to pay for the test prior to entering the classroom. Once payment is received, the participant must take his/her receipt and a picture ID to the classroom for admission. Testing is only offered on the Greenwood campus. Testing is free to Respiratory Care students with student ID.

Students will receive a score sheet upon test completion. Students that meet the minimum scores should submit their score sheet to the Respiratory Care Coordinator in the Health Science Divison prior to the application deadline.


National League of Nursing (NLN)

Licensed practical nurses seeking entry into the Transition Nursing program must take the NLN Foundations of Nursing exam and receive a score of 55 percentile or higher.

Testing Dates for 2014

Testing space is limited. Testing appointments should be scheduled early and appointments must be kept. Students should arrive 15 minutes early to the test site. Late arrivals may not be permitted to test. A photo ID is required.
