It’s not a trick question. If you could earn college credit while still in high school—tuition-free—would you? Hundreds of Piedmont Technical College’s Dual Enrollment students are doing just that.
Piedmont Technical College’s youthful new director of campus police and security may have just graduated with honors from PTC last spring, but Jeff Crisp is anything but a rookie. The seasoned public safety professional started early ― at age 16 ― as a volunteer firefighter in his hometown of Ninety Six. From there he went to the City of Greenwood and Greenwood Police Department, where he served...
This spring, new Piedmont Technical College (PTC) graduate Elena Worthing Morse made a time-honored processional, draped not in black graduation gown with honor cords but in a flowing, full-length white dress that represents a milestone of comparable weight. “I ended up getting married two days after the May 7 graduation date that would have been,” Morse said. The college welcomes input and live questions to keep the discussion going. For many PTC faculty and staff, their commitment is personal.

He works full-time in the Inpatient Pharmacy Department at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood. And while King literally leaves his house each day to clock in for his shift at Self, he very much remains happily “at home.”

It also provides a means for someone who has never worked in the HVAC field to receive some initial exposure and learn how to obtain an entry-level position in the industry.
Crystal Strickland didn’t care much for high school. And she certainly didn’t see herself ever thriving in academia after she dropped out. It seems that fate had other plans, however, and Strickland used Piedmont Technical College (PTC) as her jumping-off point into an amazing second act that has landed her in graduate school at Clemson University. Years after high school, married, starting a...
