Americans spent $225 million last year on software and subscriptions to Web sites to improve brain power. It is no secret that a sharper mind and better memory can improve one’s marketability in the work force. With the current condition of our economy and an increase in job competition, marketability is becoming more and more important. Piedmont Technical College is committed to providing courses that will be helpful during this time.

To help achieve this goal, the college will welcome Debbi Harper, California wellness author and seminar leader, to the campus September 22 to offer a one-day course entitled “The 5 Most Dangerous Threats to Your Brain’s Health.” In this course, students will learn to create healthier brain cells, boost mental focus, prevent mind-deteriorating diseases and more.

A brain health expert, Harper has received many accolades during her 25 years of experience in the fitness industry for providing courses that are both educational and entertaining. “We are really excited to welcome Debbi Harper to campus,” said Jeanne Hughston, Continuing Education program manager. “It is important that people of every age work to increase their brain health, not only to increase workforce marketability, but also to avoid Alzheimer’s, Dementia and other diseases.”

Harper’s seminar will take place from 6-9 p.m. and has been approved by the National Continuing Education Review Service of the National Association of Boards of Examiners of Long Term Care Administrators and National Certification Council for Activity Professionals.
