Health Science and Nursing Testing Information

HEalth Occupation Basic Entrance Test (HOBET)

HOBET is a program entry requirement for all students seeking entry in the Practical Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing programs. Students are required to score a minimum of 65% in the mathematics and reading sections of the test to be eligible for clinical entry. Students majoring in an Associate degree or diploma program in Health Science are eligible to take HOBET in effort to gain additional Merit points.

 

Testing Dates for 2014

HOBET test dates for 2014 are posted below. Testing space is limited. Testing appointment should be scheduled early and appointments must be kept. Students should arrive 15 minutes early to the test site. Late arrivals may not be permitted to test. A photo ID is required. Students may only test twice within a twelve month period. Students are encouraged to use preparation materials to study prior to testing.

How to Schedule Your HOBET Test Appointment

To reserve a HOBET test appointment, a non-refundable fee of $35 must first be paid to the PTC Business Office. Once this fee has been paid, please call (864) 941-8724 to schedule your test appointment. Students who cannot attend their scheduled HOBET test appointment must call (864) 941-8724 at least 24 hours prior to their appointment time. Students who fail to show for their scheduled test appointment without calling this number at least 24 hours in advance will forfeit the $35 fee.

WorKKeys

WorkKeys is a program entry requirement for all students seeking entry into Respiratory Care. Students are required to score a minimum of 4 in all testing areas to meet the Program-Ready requirement. Students should have this completed by the application deadline.

Testing space is limited. Testing appointment should be scheduled early and appointments must be kept. Students should arrive 15 minutes early to the test site. Late arrivals may not be permitted to test. A photo ID is required. Students are encouraged to use preparation materials to study prior to testing.

Preparation materials are available through all SC Works (One Stop/WIA) locations. Students may contact their county location for more information and access to study materials. Contact information for all locations can be found on SC Works.

To schedule a testing appointment, contact Continuing Education at (864) 941-8400. Testing is only offered on the Greenwood campus.

Students will receive a score sheet upon test completion. Students that meet the minimum scores should submit their score sheet to the Respiratory Care Coordinator in the Health Science Divison prior to the application deadline.

 

National League of Nursing (NLN)

Licensed practical nurses seeking entry into the Transition Nursing program must take the NLN Foundations of Nursing exam and receive a score of 55 percentile or higher.
