AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers Renewal
This course is for individuals who need to renew BLS certification.  Individual must first successfully complete the BLS for Healthcare Providers On-Line @ www.onlineaha.org.  Upon completion, print your form and call 864-941-8400 to sign-up for the skills test.  Skills tests are by appointment Mondays between 9 a.m. & 1 p.m.

Emergency Medical Technician - Basic
This 160-hour course is for those who wish to volunteer or work with and Emergency Medical Service system.  Students who successfully complete this assessment-based training are eligible to take the SC DHEC examination for certification as an EMT-B in South Carolina.  Required textbooks which are available in the campus shop: Brady's Emergency Care Textbook and Workbook, eighth edition and Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association.  The national registry practical exam is $80.00 and written exam is $70.00., payable to National Registry of EMTS.

Health Unit Coordinator
Health Unit Coordinator:  members of the supporting cast that helps maintain a health facility’s service and performance.  These trained individuals may also be known as unit clerks, ward clerks, or unit secretaries.  Some of their daily operations include preparing special documents such as birth/death certificates, maintaining patient charts and records, coordinating patients’ activities, ordering supplies and communicating with dietary departments.  They will also record temperatures, pulse and blood pressure readings for patients as well as transcribing medical orders and completing admission and discharge forms.  They work under direct supervision of registered nursing staff or health administrators.  Their main responsibility is to act as liaison between patient and staff.  They must have excellent communication skills and possess a pleasant and professional disposition in dealing with the public and must be detail oriented, reliable and able to follow procedure.  Must be 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED & basic computer skills.  This is an excellent opportunity to get started in the health care field.  Upon completion student will be qualified to sit for the National Health Unit Coordinator Certification Examination.  Books sold separately in Piedmont Tech Campus Shops.

RN NCLEX Review
NCLEX - RN prep exam workshops prepare RN's to sit for the NCLEX - RN exam.  The focus is on the questions and topics that appear most frequently on the exam.  The workshop includes test-taking techniques for all the new, alternative type questions.  All RN Requirements.

Medical Keyboarding and Terminology
This course is designed to familiarize the user with beginning medical keyboarding/intermediate medical keyboarding, medical language, grammatical and office skills.  This is the first course in a series called Medical Office Computer Applications consisting of Medical Keyboarding and Terminology, Medical Scheduler/MISYS Computerized Medical Billing and MISYS Advanced Computerized Medical Billing.

Medical Scheduler/MISYS Computerized Billing
This course is designed to familiarize the user with scheduling through the use of appointment cards.  Participants will also be introduced to MISYS computerized medical billing.  Prerequisite is Medical Keyboarding and Terminology.  This is the second course in the Medical Office Computer Applications series.

MISYS Advanced Computerized Medical Billing
Students will become proficient in MISYS, the medical software used by most physicians' offices.  This MISYS advanced course will cover medical transcription and the collections module.  Prerequisites includes Medical Keyboarding and Terminology and Medical Scheduler/MISYS Computerized Billing.

Nursing Assistant
The Nursing Assistant course is a study of concepts required to assist with nursing care. Among some of the skills learned are vital signs, promoting safety, infection control, body mechanics and assisting with client assessment. Successful completion of course consists of classroom, skills lab and clinical experience. Once these areas have been successfully accomplished, a student may apply to take the national certification examination. This course consists of variable hours totaling 90 hours. Navy blue uniforms and white shoes must be worn for skills lab, facility tour and clinical.  Students will be required to complete a SR&I background check + drug screening at the additional cost of $65.  The two-step TB test MUST be started prior to the first class.  Required texts books include, The Nursing Assistant Handbook by Hartman Publishing, The Nursing Assistant Workbook by Hartman publishing, and blood pressure kits which may be purchased at our Campus Shop.  (*denotes accelerated classes)
