Cobra ProjectIn fall 2006, Piedmont's top automotive technology students had their first chance to work elbow-to-elbow with instructors to build a 1965 Cobra Replica. The Foundation and various suppliers provided the funding and equipment that made this award-winning project possible. Since completion, the Cobra has been transported to career fairs and auto shows throughout South Carolina and Georgia, and it is currently advertised for sale. Proceeds with be returned to the Foundation for the benefit of future students. Student Built HomesIn 2008, Piedmont students completed a home-building project in Greenwood. Building construction technology students gained real-life work experience in all aspects of construction; and students in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology program installed the heating and cooling units. The Foundation secured land, provided funding, and worked with realtors to sell the completed home. Local businesses and contractors also donated materials, offered discounts, and provided extra labor when needed. Profits will fund scholarships for building construction technology students.
