Luncheon Honors Scholarship Recipients, Donors

Scholarships were awarded recently at a luncheon honoring donors and recipients.

 

 

Piedmont Technical College student and Greenwood resident Windy Bolt (left) recently received the Ernest W. Prewett Alumni Association Scholarship Award. Bolt, an administrative office technology student, was congratulated by Ernest Prewett, former executive assistant to the president at PTC. Established by the Piedmont Technical College Alumni Association, this scholarship is based on academic achievement and need.

 

 

 

 

 

Piedmont Technical College student and Honea Path resident Brittany Magaha, right, was recently awarded the Strom Thurmond Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Magaha, an associate degree nursing student, is congratulated by Phil Vickery, director of operations at Capsugel. The scholarship, which is named for Senator Strom Thurmond, is awarded annually to students who display leadership abilities and maintain a minimum 3.5 grade point average. The scholarship is also based on academic achievement and financial need.

 

 

 

 

Piedmont Technical College student and Abbeville resident Angela Stewart (left) was recently awarded the Veterinary Technician of Excellence Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Stewart, a veterinary technology major, is congratulated by Sylvia MacFarlane, veterinary technology program coordinator. The scholarship is presented to second year veterinary technology students who demonstrate academic excellence, professionalism and participation in community activities.

 

 

 

 

Two Piedmont Technical College students recently received the Healing Hands Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Pictured are, from left, Kristal Sears, a massage therapy student from Greenwood; Michelle Liggett, massage therapy program coordinator; and Erika Griffith, a massage therapy student from Saluda. The scholarship is awarded annually based on academic achievement, leadership ability and financial need to Massage Therapy majors.

 

 

 

 

 

Two Piedmont Technical College students recently received the Lakelands Homebuilders Association of Greenwood Scholarship at the annual scholarship luncheon. Pictured are, from left, Milton Harp, a building construction technology student from Newberry, and John Cobb, membership chair. Not pictured is Sumpter Cureton, a BCT student from Newberry. The scholarship is awarded annually to BCT students based on academic achievement. 

 

 

 

 

 

Two Piedmont Technical College recently received the “Lady Bug" Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Pictured are, from left, Sheila Weitkemp, a veterinary technology student from Abbeville; Sylvia MacFarlane, veterinary technology program coordinator; and Caitlin Stockman, a veterinary technology student from Prosperity. Named in memory of Lady Bug, who served as the vet tech mascot, this scholarship is available to a student in the third semester of the Veterinary Technology program who is an active participant in the Veterinary Technology Club.

 

 

 

 

Piedmont Technical College student and Johnston resident Janet Johnson, right, was recently awarded the Honeycutt Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Johnson, an administrative office technology student, is congratulated by Brenda Brooks, scholarship committee member. The scholarship is awarded annually to an Edgefield County student and is based on academic achievement and financial need.
