Career Planning is a service designed to equip current and prospective students with the skills and knowledge they need to make career decisions. Professional counselors assist current or prospective students in choosing or changing careers and planning a program of study. The Student Success Center offers you the opportunity to take advantage of career planning.... free of charge. Appointments are recommended.


A variety of services are available to help current or prospective students determine which careers may be the best choice based on:

Career Planning Procedures

  2. Career assessment is conducted through a variety of instruments such as interest inventories and values clarification tools.  Occupational information is available for research. 
  3. An individual follow-up appointment is scheduled for test interpretation and to discuss career options and review plans to achieve goals.

Computerized Assistance
  • Career Tracks
    The Career Tracks Online Guide provides answers to the most frequently asked questions about programs of study at Piedmont Technical College.  Information includes job duties, salary information and placement rates of recent graduates.
  • SCOIS

  • TypeFocus

  • SC Personal Pathways to Success
    Three assessments are available to clarify interests, values and skills.  Each assessment may be completed in approximately 20-25 minutes. Paper and Pencil Inventories
  • Strong Interest Inventory (SII)
    Profile will highlight areas of interest and activities to help identify career fields. Identifies comfort level in work and learning environments, leadership styles and risk taking situations.
  • Self-Directed Search (SDS)
    Helps individuals find the occupations that best suit their interests and skills.
  • Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
    MBTI results describe valuable differences between normal, healthy people, identifies your strengths and unique gifts. You can use the information to better understand yourself, your motivation, your strengths and potential areas of growth.
