Each year, Piedmont Technical College chooses some of its best and brightest to serve as Presidential Ambassadors. These students represent the college at campus functions, provide tours and speak about their experiences to potential students.
The Piedmont Technical College Area Commission recently hosted a barbecue dinner at Bermuda’s at The Links at Stoney Point, for local, state and federal legislators to raise awareness of PTC’s vital role in the work force development of South Carolina’s Lakelands region.
A group of students and staff from Piedmont Technical College joined nearly 300 SC Technical College System students at the State House Tuesday to show their support for the Lottery Tuition Assistance (LTA) program. Speakers included Dr. Darrel W. Staat, System president; Sen. John Courson, R-Richland, chairman, Senate Education Committee; Rep.
Abbe Cannon looks like your typical teenager. She has the typical friends that she hangs out with each day. She will graduate in the spring from Emerald High School. She doesn’t seem to be extraordinary.
Until you realize she will also be a 2011 graduate of Piedmont Technical College.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
That is a question often asked of students. For the month of February, middle and high school students will have the opportunity to explore their options.
Technology is in a constant state of change. The commercial art program at Piedmont Technical College is working to keep up with the innovations by improving the labs in the program.
Darren Jones is on his way to fulfilling a dream that began as a sixth grade student researching career options. The Greenwood native has been recruited to work as the operations manager for Terry Funeral Home in Philadelphia.
Students, faculty and staff at Piedmont Technical College participated in an Open Mic Poetry Reading in celebration of Black History Month. Presenters included guest poet Tavis Brunson, a member of The Concrete Generation and Touch One Productions, a collective of artists based currently in Charlotte, NC. The annual event is sponsored by the Ebony Club.
The cardiovascular technology program at Piedmont Technical College recently sponsored A New Start for a Healthy Heart, a community event that included a blood drive, blood pressure checks and educational information for the public. The event also offered Heart Healthy Tips by area health professionals, such as Dr.
Piedmont Technical College students who had outstanding academic accomplishments during the 2010 fall term have earned inclusion on the President’s List. To be named to the list, students must be full-time and earn a term GPA of 4.00. Students will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the college president.
