Piedmont Tech Welcomes New Presidential Ambassadors

Each year, Piedmont Technical College chooses some of its best and brightest to serve as Presidential Ambassadors. These students represent the college at campus functions, provide tours and speak about their experiences to potential students. This year’s select 12 are from a variety of backgrounds, representing many program areas and hometowns, but they all have one thing in common.

Academic Honor Students Recognized for 2013 Summer Term

Piedmont Technical College students who had outstanding academic accomplishments during the 2013 summer term have earned inclusion on the President’s List. To be named to the list, students must be full time and earn a term GPA of 4.00. Students will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the college president.

President’s List students include:

Abbeville County - Jennifer L. Chen, Kevin W. Claussen, Brennan D. Ferguson and Nathan W. Freeman, all of Abbeville; and De’Lunta D. Sampson of Calhoun Falls.

Piedmont Tech to Launch Honors Program

Beginning in Fall 2014, Piedmont Technical College will become one of only two technical colleges in the state to offer an Honors Program for students seeking an Associate in Arts or an Associate in Science degree.

“We are excited to provide a challenging new approach for some of our higher-achieving students,” said Kathryn Brackett, honors program director.

National Health Care (NHC) of Greenwood and NHC of Laurens recently made a generous donation to the Nursing program at Piedmont Technical College to assist with education in the field of geriatrics. Students at Piedmont Technical College recently headed back to class. Interested students still have time to enroll for Late Term, which begins September 26.

Cardiovascular Technology Program Receives Accreditation

The Cardiovascular Technology program at Piedmont Technical College recently received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), becoming the only associate degree cardiovascular technology program accredited in the state.

“The accreditation is a testament to the quality of the Cardiovascular Technology program at Piedmont Technical College,” said Jerry Alewine, dean of health science.
