Piedmont Tech to Sponsor College Transfer Fair

Piedmont Technical College will sponsor a College Transfer Fair Tuesday, March 12 in room 155B on the Lex Walters Campus. More than 30 colleges and universities will be in attendance to give students information on special bridge programs and transfer pathways. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Students, faculty and staff at Piedmont Technical College recently participated in an Open Mic Poetry Jam in celebration of Black History Month. Presenters included guest poet Kimbi “The Goddess” of Unifyed Sol Poets.

Evelyn Beck has been named Piedmont Technical College’s dean of Arts and Sciences. Beck replaces Donna Foster who was named associate vice president of institutional assessment and compliance in August.

Piedmont Tech Students Named to Academic All-State

Two Piedmont Technical College students were recently among those named to the Phi Theta Kappa South Carolina All-State Academic Team. Todd Raugh of Greenwood and Erika Tinsley of Newberry will be among the 23 students honored at a ceremony in Columbia in March.

Samantha Hauptman, Suzy Murray and Tamatha Sells have completed the certification program offered by the Learning Resources Network (LERN) which provides professional development and recognition for instructors of online courses.

Tau Alpha Pi Inducts New Members

taualphapi1110Eleven new members were recently inducted into the Tau Alpha Pi National Honor Society at Piedmont Technical College. Tau Alpha Pi is the national honor society for engineering technology, just as Phi Beta Kappa is for liberal arts and Tau Beta Pi is for engineering. Founded in 1953 and managed for more than 30 years by engineering technology educator Frederick J.
