Eaton Corporation Donates $20,000 to PTC Foundation

Officials from Eaton Corporation recently visited the Greenwood campus of Piedmont Technical College (PTC) to present a check for $20,000 to the PTC Foundation specifically to support the college’s engineering technology programs. 

PTC Car Show to Deliver Eye Candy for Automotive Fans

Piedmont Technical College’s student club “Full Throttle” will hold its annual PTC Automotive Technology Program Car Show on Saturday, May 6, 2023, in the Medford Family Event Center Parking Lot at the Lex Walters Campus-Greenwood. The show will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Event-day registration is $20 per vehicle. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors, and automotive vehicles of all types are welcome.

ZF Donates 14 Transmissions to PTC Auto Tech Program

ZF Transmissions in Gray Court recently donated 14 transmissions to the Piedmont Technical College (PTC) Automotive Technology Program. Just as a transmission regulates the speed of an engine power directed to a vehicle’s tires, ZF’s donation to PTC is helping harness the power of education to move students forward in their careers and lives. 

BC, Wizard of Id Cartoonist Mastroianni to Deliver Artist Lecture at PTC

Back by popular demand, B.C. and Wizard of Id cartoonist Mason Mastroianni is the April presenter in the Piedmont Technical College (PTC) Visiting Artist Lecture Series. He will be on campus Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 3:30 in Room 102 of the Self Conference Center in Greenwood.

Judith Martin, the etiquette maven otherwise known as “Miss Manners,” would wholeheartedly approve some time-honored advice offered to commercial art students and others during a recent talk at Piedmont Technical College (PTC). Laura Bachinski, owner of Main & Maxwell gallery in Greenwood, was the February guest speaker in the college’s Visiting Artist Series, and she didn’t mince words. 

SC Endeavors Presents $16,500 to PTC's Early Childhood Education Program

A child’s first steps only happen once. Unless adults are super attentive, they may miss seeing them. Similarly, brain development in children under 5 occurs rapidly. In fact, it is the most active phase of brain development and a window of time when thoughtfully researched educational interventions provide the most benefit. Recognizing how important quality early childhood education programs are to brain development and later academic success, SC Endeavor, a professional development system for South Carolina’s early childhood workforce, on Feb. 28, 2023, presented a check totaling $16,500 to the Piedmont Technical College (PTC) Early Care and Education (ECE) Program to champion this critical curriculum.

PTC Machine Tool Students Benefit from Back-to-Back Gene Haas Foundation Grants

While South Carolina residents are taking advantage of Piedmont Technical College’s No-Cost Option scholarship assistance (which has been extended through the Summer 2023 term), non-qualifying out-of-state students still may face the occasional hardship paying for some of their college costs out of pocket. Machine Tool Technology (MTT) majors have an indispensable resource in the form of back-to-back Gene Haas Foundation education grants, which provide assistance with tuition, books, tools, and other supply costs for PTC students working toward careers in advanced manufacturing.

More than 60 High Schoolers Broaden Their 'Soil Horizons' at FFA Judging Event

Future farmers got the real dirt on soil quality at the Invitational Future Farmers of America (FFA) Soil Judging Contest hosted by the Piedmont Technical College (PTC) Diversified Agriculture Program at its Saluda County Campus on Sept. 22, 2022. Nineteen FFA teams from 12 different schools across the state competed. The event welcomed 62 high school student participants and 15 high school agriculture instructors. 

PTC Student-Authored Research Papers Lead to Scholarships

Piedmont Technical College (PTC) is pleased to announce that two of its second-year Respiratory Care Program students recently won scholarships for research papers they wrote. The students — Amaro Sunga and Gabby Vickery — were honored at the SC Society for Respiratory Care (SCSRC) State Conference in Myrtle Beach. 

Piedmont Tech Elevates Surgical Technology Program to Associate Degree Status

This fall, Piedmont Technical College (PTC) upgraded its Surgical Technology degree program from a diploma to an associate of applied science.
