Piedmont Technical College’s implementation of Lean in Higher Education has been awarded the prestigious 2013 Bellwether Award, which recognizes outstanding and innovative programs in community college education. The winners were announced earlier today at the Community College Futures Assembly (CCFA) annual meeting in Orlando.

The event drew nearly 100 school counselors and career development professionals from 10 school districts in Abbeville, Clinton, Edgefield, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick, Newberry, Ninety Six, Saluda and Ware Shoals.

wadenicholson1210Like many people across the state of South Carolina, Wade Nicholson has had to reinvent himself. He has found the tools for that reinvention at Piedmont Technical College.

Nicholson graduated from Saluda High School and went on to college at the University of South Carolina. College wasn’t what he wanted at the time, so he began working for a large textile manufacturer.

If your New Year’s resolution is to enroll in college, Piedmont Technical College can help make it easy.

PTC will be offering Instant Admissions Day on Thursday, January 3. Admissions and financial aid counselors will be on hand to help students through the entire enrollment process in just one day.

“We wanted to provide students with a one-stop option to enroll in classes,” said Tanisha Latimer, dean of enrollment management.
