Free Financial Aid Workshops Offered

Need help filling out financial aid paperwork for college? Piedmont Technical College is teaming up with the SC Commission on Higher Education to offer College Goal South Carolina. This free event is designed to help college-bound students and their families with the financial aid application process.

“Applying for financial aid can be daunting, especially the first time,” said Missy Perry, director of financial aid at PTC. “College Goal SC is a great opportunity for students and parents across the state to learn more about the process and get hands-on professional assistance with completing the FAFSA.”

College Goal SC will be held Saturday, February 22 in the library of the Lex Walters Campus-Greenwood and in the main lobby of the Newberry Campus from 10 a.m. until noon.  Financial aid professionals will be on hand to help complete the necessary paperwork to get the qualified funding for college. Students should attend College Goal SC if they are high school seniors considering education after graduation. Parents are also welcome.

“We would like for every student who wishes to attend college to have that opportunity,” said Perry. “We are hosting this event in order to educate families on the availability of funding for an education.”

Students should bring the following: their social security number or alien registration number if not a US citizen; most recent federal income tax returns, along with W-2s and other records of money earned; bank statements and records of investments; records of untaxed income; and a federal student aid PIN to sign electronically. To get a federal student aid PIN, visit www.pin.ed.gov.
