Center for Advanced Manufacturing in Laurens on Target for Late Spring

Plans for the Piedmont Technical College Center for Advanced Manufacturing in Laurens County were announced in late August 2011, and the project is moving forward quickly. The necessary demolition work is now complete, and construction began in early January. 

“The new Center will be a huge asset to Laurens County,” said Jonathan Coleman, deputy director at the Laurens County Development Corporation.

PTC Wins National Recognition for Lean Implementation

Piedmont Technical College’s work to implement the Lean methodology in a community college setting has won the College national recognition.

PTC has been selected as a finalist for a prestigious 2012 Bellwether Award, which recognizes outstanding, innovative programs and practices that are successfully leading community colleges into the future.

“This award is an affirmation of our institutional dedication to ‘work smarter’,” said Dr. Ray Brooks, PTC president.

Cain Named to Area Commission

J. Richard Cain has been named to represent Laurens County on the Piedmont Technical College Area Commission. Members of the governing board are recommended by their legislative delegation and appointed by the governor for four-year terms. Cain replaces Randy Garrett, who represented the county from 2007-2011.

PTC Students Named to President's, Dean's, & Merit Lists of Achievement

Piedmont Technical College students who had outstanding academic accomplishments during the 2011 summer term have earned inclusion on the President’s List. To be named to the list, students must be full-time and earn a term GPA of 4.00. Students will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the college president.
