PTC, USC Aiken Create a New Gateway for Students

Piedmont Technical College and USC Aiken recently signed two agreements that will make it easier for students to pursue their bachelor’s degree - an articulation agreement that will provide a new gateway for students who would like to enter the field of early childhood education and a Bridge Program intended to make the transition to the University as uncomplicated as possible.

Phi Theta Kappa Inducts New Members

Thirty-seven new members were recently inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society at Piedmont Technical College. Phi Theta Kappa was established in 1918 to honor two-year college students and boasts more than 1,200 chapters today. The Carolinas region includes 75 active chapters in the two-state area. Piedmont Tech’s Omega Chi chapter became the first among South Carolina’s technical colleges in 1974.

Piedmont Technical College to Hold Spring Pottery Sale

Pottery lovers and shoppers will once again have an opportunity to see the work of local pottery students as Piedmont Technical College hosts its Spring Pottery Show and Sale on April 19 in room 209C of the James C. Self Conference Center on the Greenwood campus. The exhibit and sale will feature the works of students enrolled in the Professional Clay certificate program.

Summer VIP Registration Open

After record-setting fall and spring enrollments, officials at PTC are looking forward to a good turnout for summer term classes as the VIP registration period draws near. 

Registration for the summer term begins April 2 and runs through April 30. Students who register during this period become “VIPs” and receive their first choice of classes and a $25 registration fee waiver.

Tau Alpha Pi Inducts New Members

Six new members were recently inducted into the Tau Alpha Pi National Honor Society at Piedmont Technical College. Tau Alpha Pi is the national honor society for engineering technology, just as Phi Beta Kappa is for liberal arts and Tau Beta Pi is for engineering. Founded in 1953 and managed for more than 30 years by engineering technology educator Frederick J.

Bailey Foundation Donates to New PTC Center in Laurens

The Bailey Foundation recently made a generous donation to the Piedmont Technical College Foundation toward the new Center for Advanced Manufacturing in Laurens County, a training facility designed to assist the county’s growing manufacturing sector.
