A 10th grade education and six (6) months of work experience that is directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
(Note): This position requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License. However, applicants without a Class A Commercial Driver’s License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class A Commercial Driver’s License are available.
Class A Commercial Driver’s License must be attained within six (6 months) of placement in the position.
Trains and performs preventive maintenance services on vehicles and equipment for Lexington Maintenance. Trains with higher level mechanics to perform the duties of checking, servicing,and helping make repairs to vehicles and equipment. Assists the Mechanic II by laying out tools and equipment needed to perform preventive vehicle maintenance. Checks daily report each morning to determine tools needed for repair jobs. Completes daily time sheet. Cleans tools,equipment, work and shop area daily and when repairs are complete. Trains with higher level mechanics by going on road calls to repair broken down vehicles and equipment. Properly stores equipment and tools when not in use. Maintains a safe and clean work area to ensure all work is done in compliance with OSHA and DHEC regulations. Works during inclement and hazardous weather. Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.
