Requirements:

A 10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of work experience that involved the independent performance of job duties directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). (Note:) This position requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. However, applicants without a Class A Commercial Driver's. License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class A Commercial Driver's License
are available. A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Job Description:

Diagnoses repairs or parts replacement on all diesel powered equipment assigned to District. Performs maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulic motors,pumps, cylinders, mowing equipment, tractors, motorgraders, rollers and AMZ machines.
Diagnoses, repairs or replaces parts as necessary on all automotive gasoline engines,
transmissions, brakes, exhaust systems, cylinder heads, valves, timing belts, and cooling systems. Operates and performs testing with new generation start tester and monitor testing equipment in order to diagnose problems with various on board computer systems. Performs maintenance and repairs on small engines including lawn mowers, chain saws, pole saws,edgers, string trimmers, etc. Performs work on electrical systems, repairs or replaces alternators, starters, DMI and strobe lights. Performs welding and fabrication as needed for repairs on various equipment making modifications to equipment to improve the production of utilization. Performs electric welding or gas welding. Ensures all hazardous waste and materials are properly stored and/or disposed of as per DHEC regulations. Containers must be
properly labeled. Repairs vehicles during service calls that require repair before movement. Performs other duties as required. Works during inclement weather. Trains to diagnose,service, and repair air conditioning units on various types of equipment, cars, trucks, lowboys and sweeper trucks, using the proper test equipment and following the correct guidelines established by OSHA.
