A high school diploma and six (6) months of work experience that is directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.

Employee must be able to work in inclement weather.  Employee must be able to: lift up to 25 lbs., kneel, reach, sit, and stand.

Job Responsibilities

Acts as receptionist for the Construction Office by answering telephone calls, transferring calls and/or taking messages as needed, and assisting callers with questions, complaints, and matters relating to Damage Claims. Creates, manages, and files documents for the operation of the Construction Office, including administrative, employee training, safety and construction contracts.  Corresponds with Prime Contractors and the Office of Business Development and Special Programs to maintain, verfiy, and submit certifited payrolls, DBE/WBE Quarterly reports, Stage Type inspections and other relevant items. Maintains files according to the Department's Retention Policy.  Assists the Resident Construction Engineer with all personnel matters for the Construction Office.  Prepares and submits all documentation for new hires, promotions, transfers, terminations, etc. Assists employees/new hires with matters such as benefits elections, employee training, etc. Acts as Payroll Administrator using the SCEIS System. Enters monthly mileage reports into the STARS system.  Purchases equipment and supplies for the Construction Office, using the SCEIS system or State Procurement Card in compliance with the SC Procurement Code. Acts as liaison for other employees as needed. Acts as the Safety Liaison for the Construction Office. Utilizes the Risk Management System for accident and injury reporting. Maintains safety memoranda, safety manuals, and manages workers' compensation claims.  Performs other related duties as assigned.
