The SCE&G Co-op Program offers you a dynamic, hands-on work experience that will prepare you to compete for full-time positions upon graduation; while pursuing your Associates Degree for an accredited university or college.
During the spring semester 2019, we are offering an opportunity for an individual aspiring to work with mechanical and electrical plant components. This opportunity will be in our Fossil Hydro coal-fired generating plants.
There is one co-op position available at Wateree Station located in Eastover, SC
Responsibilities
Students may perform a variety of duties related to the operation of Fossil Hydro generating plants.
Duties may include:
Assisting with maintaining, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and instrumentation equipment of the generating unit at the assigned location; includes Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor controllers, smart field devices, and Distributed Control System (DCS) controls.
Working with qualified I&C journeymen experienced in the maintenance of the power plant equipment.
Utilizing drawings, prints, CAD systems, etc.
Working with Operations personnel to understand and assist with the operation of power plant equipment.
Working in a physical environment involving climbing, bending and lifting of heavy power plant equipment, and standing for prolonged periods of time.
Occasionally working outdoors and during inclement weather.
