A high school diploma and experience in office automation systems, data communications systems design, installation, operation, repair, sales or marketing, or processing of information in a data processing environment. Advanced level router, firewall and other associated IP network technologies required. Cisco network hardware including AP installation, configuration and troubleshooting would
be beneficial. Cisco Network Engineer certification would be beneficial but not required. An understanding of IP streaming technologies, with an emphasis on Windows Media related
technologies. Windows 2003 System Administration and a knowledge of Virtualization technologies.
Deep understanding of IP communications is required, with an emphasis on Multicast mode
transports- IGMP and PIM and streaming media technologies.
Under general supervision, ensure the stability and integrity of Wide Area Networking infrastructure
and wireless network services. The System's Administrator role is to strategically design, integrateand manage in-house information systems and networked software architecture that support core
organizational functions, and assure their high availability. Assist with planning, design, and
development of local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) in support of IP MEDIA
DISTRIBUTION systems at locations across the state of South Carolina. Assist with the installation,
monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and
communication links in relation to ETV's IP Initiative hardware and software components- now called:
"Digital Education Service" (DES). Analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a
timely and accurate fashion, and provide assistance/training to local IT support personnel in each
school district where work is performed.
