Requirements:

You are required to have an associates degree in criminal justice, business, social science, or other relevant field, with one or two of experience in law enforcement; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have successfully completed required courses and certification; may be required to possess additional certifications as deemed necessary by the city. You must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license. You will need physically fit; data conception; interpersonal communication; ability to read all reports; ability to apply principles of rational systems; ability to record and deliver information; ability to add and subtract numbers; ability to inspect items; ability to handle equipment; ability to differentiate colors and shades of color; ability to deal with people; and ability to talk or hear someone.

Job Description:

You will be under general supervision, perform general duty police work in an effort to protect life and property of Newberry citizens through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. Work involves patrolling the city, conducting investigations, preparing cases for court, preparing various reports, and assisting citizens in an attempt to protect life and property of citizens through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. Employee works under stressful, high-risk conditions. Reports to the lieutenant. You will need to have quality of work, quantity of work, dependability, attendance, initiative and enthusiasm, judgment, cooperation, relationships with others, coordination or work, and safety and housekeeping.
