Requirements:

A 10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.

Job Description:

Serves as crew leader performing various duties within a section of county including patching roadway surfaces, construction and repair of guardrail and constructing driveways. Operates combination front-end loader and backhoe to clean out drainage ditches and to install sideline and cross line pipe. Operates tandem dump truck in hauling maintenance and construction materials including concrete pipes, asphalt, dirt, coquina. Operates truck mounted plows and sand spreaders in snow and ice removal as necessary. Sets up traffic control according to SCMUTCD Standards to warn motorist of road work ahead. Assumes supervisor's duties and responsibilities during their absence. Conducts safety inspection on all assigned vehicles and equipment as needed. Assists with instructing crew members daily in safety practices. Safety
practices includes flagging operations, wearing of safety equipment, vehicle safety, or when working with hazardous material and waste. Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor. Operates chain saw in the removal of trees from the right-of-way.
