PTC to Hold Summer Commencement August 1

Piedmont Technical College (PTC) will hold two summer commencement exercises on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, in the James Medford Family Event Center on PTC’s Lex Walters Campus-Greenwood.

An 11 a.m. ceremony will recognize graduates from our Business, Information Technology, Commercial Art, Public Service, Engineering & Industrial Technology programs. A 3 p.m. ceremony will recognize graduates from our Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Healthcare programs.

The keynote speaker will be Andrea White. She is the Executive Director of the largest hunger-relief organization in Greenwood County. Since 2021, she has overseen a network of over 50 food banks, distributing nearly 100,000 pounds of food annually. White's initiatives have significantly impacted the lives of children, families, veterans, and seniors.

The student speaker for the 11 a.m. ceremony will be Ashley Powell. Driven by a deep passion for criminal defense investigation, Powell has shown exceptional dedication in pursuing an Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice at PTC.

The student speaker for the 3 p.m. ceremony will be Fernando Reyes. Driven by passion and dedication, Reyes enrolled in Dual Enrollment at Piedmont Technical College. This summer, he will be certified as a pharmacy technician, a step towards his dream of becoming a pharmacist. His acceptance into the University of South Carolina's pharmacy program is a testament to his unwavering dedication.

The public should be advised that PTC takes security measures for all graduation ceremonies. Guests are encouraged to leave unnecessary items in vehicles. Umbrellas and balloons will NOT be allowed into the event. Any bags carried into the Medford Center must be made of clear plastic.

This is a ticketed event. Each individual ticketholder, including children, will be entitled to one seat only. The Emerald City Brass will provide musical entertainment.
