Wages/Salary: Modest Living Stipend ($ 11,676 /annually), Education Award ($ 5,730) or Cash Award ($1,500) at the end of your service, Basic Health Coverage, Child Care: Up to $400/month per child if eligible, Deferment or forbearance of eligible student loans Relocation Allowance: Up to $500 to help with moving expenses if eligible, and Hiring Advantage: Non-competitive eligibility for a federal government position for one year after your service.

To expand and enhance economic opportunity services provided to disadvantaged individuals in communities throughout South Carolina by:
? Conducting research to identify best practices in Economic Opportunity/Financial Stability sector and develop initiatives with best practices in mind.
? Developing solutions to break down barriers resulting in service gaps and track successes of each endeavor through statistics that are easily conveyed to the community.
? Scheduling and coordinating events (classes, initiatives) to then recruit volunteers.
? Working with community volunteers, the Resource Development Director, and United Way staff to put ideas into action. Ask other VISTAs about their experiences with this.
