Job Description:

Maintains files and keeps all encroachment permits updated. Logs all permits in computer Encroachment Permit program before filing. Assists with drawings and completion of permits when necessary. Re-inspects work upon completion of projects to make sure all work is in compliance with policies and specifications of construction and utility manuals. Stays in constant contact with utility companies, engineering firms, private individuals, and contractors; in daily contact with landowners and surveyors, looking up rights-of-way and special provisions. Meets with companies and individuals for on-site inspections. Assists Resident Maintenance Engineer in performing preparatory work and entering data into HMMS. Conducts inspections of work performed on maintenance contracts and in-house maintenance
work to enforce safe work zones and ensure contract specifications and Departmental standards are followed. Maintains drawings and engineering data files, including road-specific files for all work done on State maintained roads in Newberry County. Determines and records technical data for all access management requests and routes appropriate work as necessary. Keeps files updated with all relevant data. Coordinates with other technicians to gather monthly quantities for all current contracts and submits these quantities to staff procurement personnel to ensure
prompt and accurate payment of contracts. Performs other related duties as required.
