A high school diploma and seven (7) years of progressively responsible field experience in geodetic surveying or related area; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License is require
Trains and supervises inspectors in sampling and testing materials, batching and placing concrete, inspecting sub-grade and base materials. Materials includes: obtaining fine and coarse aggregate samples from stock piles, cement samples from silo bens, making concrete test cylinders, tests soil and macadam base course for density requirements utilizing nuclear gauge. Inputs information daily into site manager. Creates final plans for payments to contractors. Ensures the accuracy of work of inspectors in all pay quantities. Supervises inspectors in all phases of construction performed by contractors on state and federal-aid projects. Coordinates work of utility contractors. May be required to conduct regularly scheduled meetings with construction contractors and utility contractors. Resolves issues that involve conflicts. Supervises large and small survey parties engaged in the layout of complex projects. Inspects erosion control throughout the projects. Serves as the Department's representative when investigating complaints from the general public and property owners. Provides solutions to problems or makes recommendations for correcting the problems. Prepares reports and correspondence using computer applications. Performs other related duties as required.
