Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in engineering and one (1) year of entry-level engineering work experience; or a bachelor's degree in engineering technology and three (3) years of entry-level engineering work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

Job Description:

Serves as Project Inspector for all bridge projects and all major construction projects in the Saluda Construction office. Ensures the contractor installs drill shafts and other foundation items properly. Ensures the contractor performs all other items of work on all projects according with the plans, contract special provisions, standard specifications, construction manual and all DOT guidelines. Assists Resident Engineer with managing the inspection of minor projects to ensure projects are performed according to contract, plans and standard specifications. Ensures all projects have proper traffic control and proper erosion control.
Gathers and compiles information for all reports to include monthly construction estimates.Maintains reports and information so that projects can be closed out in a timely manner.Teaches subordinates to inspect projects, use engineering equipment, layout projects and other engineering duties. Supervises subordinates, fills out position description, EPMS and Employee Professional Development Plan. Meets with utility company representatives to determine if and where their facilities are to be moved. Meets with railroad representatives to ensure flagman are on railroad crossing projects at all times. Also meets with public officials, property owners,
contractors personnel and the general public to discuss any construction problems and solve these problems according to established Department guidelines. Other related engineering duties.
