Requirements:

A high school diploma and one (1) year of related experience; or an approved acceptable
equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. Necessary Special
requirements: Employee must be able to perform minor and basic vehicular repair operations,
use light equipment, hand and power tools safely. Employee must be able to lift equipment and
supplies which may weigh up to 60 pounds. Employee must possess a valid motor vehicle
operator's license

Job Description:

Travels assigned routes, assisting stranded motorists, assisting emergency response agencies
and assisting in removing disabled vehicles and debris from travel lanes during incidents.
Records incident response activities at each incident scene. Use proper SHEP forms to
document stops, transport, and consent to push/pull. Prepares written reports of incident
response activities for major incident scenes and inputs all response activities in the database.
Correctly annotate and input vehicle mileage into database. Follows approved SCDOT traffic
control practices and procedures by using a variety of traffic control devices such as truck
mounted changeable message signs, arrow boards, and traffic cones. Performs minor vehicle
maintenance. Retrieves supplies and equipment needed for the Incident Responder Program.
