A high school diploma and one (1) year of related experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid motor vehicle operator's license.
Work schedule involves a combination of 8-hour, 10-hour and 12-hour days with some
weekends and holidays required.
Basic experience with computers.

Job Description:

Travels assigned routes and assists stranded motorists and emergency response vehicles. Assists in removing disabled vehicles and debris from travel lanes during incidents. Records Incident Response activities at incident scenes. Prepares written reports of Incident Response activities for major incident scenes and enters all response activities in the database. Follows approved SCDOT traffic control practices and procedures by using a variety of traffic control devices including truck mounted changeable message signs, arrow boards and traffic cones.
Works as required or as necessary during hazardous weather and/or other emergencies to ensure the safety of the motoring public. Retrieves supplies and equipment needed for the Incident Response Program. Performs minor vehicle maintenance and uses light equipment and hand and power tools safely. Lifts equipment and supplies which may weigh up to sixty (60) pounds.
