Wages/Salary: $31,805.00 - $58,848.00 Annually
A high school diploma and four (4) years of related experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
Necessary Special Requirement: Employee must be able to perform minor and basic vehicular repair operations, use light equipment, hand and power tools safely, inspect traffic control zones for deficiencies; troubleshoot mechanical problems; may act as SCDOT spokesperson at incident scene as required by media. Employee must be able to lift equipment and supplies which may weigh up to 60 pounds. Employee must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's
license. May be required to work overtime, nights, weekends or holiday, and during inclement weather or other emergencies.
Under general supervision, works in a specialized technical work force and performs duties as a supervisor in the SCDOT Traffic Engineering Response Unit. Assists in the development of methods to improve traffic flow during incidents. Assists emergency response personnel.Assigns routes and floats to assist incident responders as needed. Provides daily supervision of the District's Incident Response Program and employees. Records Incident Responder's activities at incident scenes. Evaluates traffic control to assure compliance with accepted SCDOT policies and procedures. Assists in the maintenance of all Incident Response equipment.Prepares report related to the management of Incident Response Operations. Oversees and assists in the operation of variable message boards, CCTV Cameras, dynamic message boards,arrow boards, and highway advisory radio. Assists with daily activities related to IncidentResponse and Traffic Management Center tasks and procedures. Performs related duties as necessary.
