Requirements:

Applicants must possess an Associates degree in an Information Technology-related field and two (2) years experience in server administration in a local/wide area network environment or a High School diploma and four (4) years experience in server administration in a local/wide area network environment.
Applicants must have a working knowledge of Microsoft server operating systems and services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and WINS. Applicants must have applied experience with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of server hardware and related devices such as tape backup libraries and storage area networks (SANs).
Applicants must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
Applicants must have strong diagnostic skills and methodologies. Applicants must possess good organizational skills. Applicants must have experience with anti-virus software and strategies preferred. Applicants must have a working knowledge of Microsoft server applications such as Exchange, SQL Server, and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) preferred.
Applicants must be able to work under limited supervision.
Applicants will be expected to present proposed strategies for management review and approval prior to implementation.
Applicants will be expected to provide periodic progress reports on approved initiatives.

Job Description:

Plans, coordinates, installs, configures, administers, maintains, supports, and troubleshoots the server hardware and the related devices such as tape backup libraries and storage area networks (SANs). Plans, coordinates, installs, configures, administers, maintains, supports, and troubleshoots Microsoft server operating systems and services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and WINS.
Administers and maintains the Agency's anti-virus strategy. Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the necessary documentation, procedures, and schedules to ensure that the Agency's servers and computers are current and adequately protected from virus and malware threats.
Administers and maintains the Agency's data backup and recovery strategy. Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the necessary documentation, procedures, and schedules to ensure that the tape backups are current, comprehensive, and functioning efficiently.
Administers and maintains the Agency's server operating system updates. Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the necessary documentation, procedures, and schedules to ensure that the Agency's servers operating systems are current and functioning correctly.
Assists management in the development, maintenance, and enforcement of technology strategies related to concepts such as disaster recovery, business continuity, and technology lifecycles. Serves as team leader/member on various update and maintenance projects that affect the global services within the Agency. Performs other related duties as required.
