Wages/Salary: $31,805.00 - $58,848.00 Annually
An associate degree in computer science or related field and two (2) years of experience in office automation systems, data communications system design, installation, operation, repair,sales or marketing, or processing of information in a data processing environment; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A bachelor's degree in computer science or related area may be substituted for the required work experience.
A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
Under general supervision, this employee assists other technicians in installing and maintaining a statewide data/video network. Primarily responsible for installation and troubleshooting of local and wide area networks.
NETWORK INSTALLATIONS: Performs installation and testing of structured cabling and components required for the local and wide area networks. Performs moves, adds, and changes to the existing statewide network as required. Serves as a member of the network emergency response team, remain in a state of readiness upon notification of component failure, or when notified of possible natural disaster. Removes and disposes of network cabling and components as they become obsolete. NETWORK MANAGEMENT: Utilizes cable testers and other troubleshooting techniques to isolate network related problems.
OTHER: Consults daily with supervisor regarding network and related problems. Performs other related duties as required.
