Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma + 2 yrs work experience in law enforcement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-High school diploma and 2 years relevant work experience as a full-time law enforcement officer with significant law enforcement duties, including powers of arrest.

Note: Experience as a corrections officer, armed security officer, security officer, general military experience, or any non-sworn law enforcement position will not meet the requirements for law enforcement experience for this position.

-Successful applicant must meet the requirements for certification as a State Constable. Applicant must meet all requirements to complete a criminal justice background check pursuant to departmental policies, state requirements, and all requirements as mandated by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy/SLED. Continued certification as a Class I Law Enforcement Officer is required.

-Must possess or obtain a SC Driver's License without cause for disqualification or law enforcement certification.

-Certification by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy as a Class I Law Enforcement Officer in accordance with SC Code of Laws 23-23-40 or successfully meet the required standards to attend/successfully complete training at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and subsequently receive certification as a Class I Law Enforcement Officer.

Job Description:

In this challenging role, you will support the Campus Police department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following:

-Enforce state/county/municipal laws

-Patrol campus properties on foot or in a motor vehicle

-Secure buildings, equipment and property belonging to Greenville Technical College

-Conduct investigations or criminal offenses, traffic accidents, disturbances, and administrative violations of GTC Policies

-Provide guidance/assistance to students, faculty, staff, and visitors to GTC

-Successfully complete required training as required by the College and South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy to maintain certification as a Class I Law Enforcement Officer

-Any other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police or other competent authority
