Maintenance Worker

Under regular supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled manual labor in streets and grounds maintenance for the Public Works Department. Work involves maintaining and operating various handheld and medium to light equipment; and performing general maintenance as needed. Reports to the Public Works Services Supervisor. Operates a variety of medium and light equipment including front-end loader, bush-hog, lawnmower, tractor, backhoe, weed eater, etc. in maintaining and cleaning streets and grounds. Performs grounds maintenance to include mowing grass, trimming, landscaping, repairing potholes, repairing sidewalks, picking up leaves, general cleaning and picking up of trash and garbage, installing drive entrances, installing and maintaining drainage pipe, maintaining ditches, etc.
Assists with general maintenance to include replacing stop and street signs, cleaning and repairing storm drains and inlets, cleaning City buildings, cleaning parking lots, spreading dirt, and painting. Maintains vehicles, equipment, and tools pertinent to the job. Responds to after-hour emergencies as required.
