A 10th grade education and two (2) years of work experience that is directly related to the area
of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human
Resources Regulations.
A valid Class A Commercial Driver?s License (CDL). Note: This position requires a valid Class A
Commercial Driver?s License. However, applicants without a Class A Commercial Driver?s License
will be considered if no qualified applicants without a Class A Commercial Driver?s License is
available. Class A Commercial Driver?s License must be attained within six (6) months
of placement in the positions.
May be required to work overtime, nighttime, and/or weekends during hazardous
weather or emergencies.
Performs preventive maintenance and repair services on SCDOT equipment/vehicles assigned to
Lexington Maintenance. This includes, but not limited to, sedans, pick-up trucks, single and tandem axle dump trucks, tractor mowers, backhoes, motor graders, etc. Diagnoses and repairs
electrical systems, repairs hydraulic hoses, repairs or replaces starters and alternators, and
repairs tractors and mowers. Trains in rebuilding pumps, motors, and hydraulic systems.
Inspects brake systems to ensure good working condition and makes necessary repairs to
include brake pads, brake lines, drums, rotors, master cylinders and wheel cylinders. Responds
to service calls concerning disabled equipment needing minor roadside repairs. Assists in
cleaning shop and properly storing tools and supplies not in use. Performs other related duties
as required by supervisor.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday (8:30 - 5:00)
