A 10th grade education and two (2) years of work experience that directly related to the area of
employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human
Resources Regulations.
Class A commercial driver's license. (Note): This position requires a Class A commercial driver's
license. However, applicants without a Class A driver's license will be considered if no qualified
applicants with a Class A commercial driver's license are available. However, applicants are
required to obtain a Class A commercial driver's license within six (6) months of employment.
May be required to work overtime, nights, weekends or holidays, and during inclement weather
or other emergencies.
Under general supervision of Trades Specialist V, performs highly skilled work in maintenance
and repair of automobiles, trucks, diesel engines and heavy construction equipment. Assists
with engine tune ups, rebuilding of hydraulic cylinders and fuel systems, relining of brakes,
rebuilding and overhauling of motors and transmissions and other repairs on light and heavy
duty trucks, motor graders, loaders and light and heavy duty tractors and mowers. Assists with
the safety and preventative maintenance inspections and repairs to meet with department
preventative maintenance guidelines. Answers calls to roadside job sites to keep equipment
repaired and in operation. Assists with the repairing and/or replacing of major mechanical parts
of grass and brush cutting mowers. Performs other related duties as required.
