Requirements:

A 10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of work experience that involved the independent performance of job duties directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's Licenses within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available.

Job Description:

Performs routine and general maintenance and repairs to automotive vehicles. Performs routine maintenance and repairs on diesel powered equipment to include motorgraders, backhoes, loaders, rollers, AMZ machines, tractors, and mowing equipment. Repairs diesel engines to include cooling system, fuel system, transmissions, rear ends, hydraulics systems, gear box, steering, engines, drive trains, PTO and other various types of repairs. Performs preventive maintenance as required. Diagnoses and repairs all fuel system components for gasoline and diesel powered equipment with or without vehicle on-board computers. Performs work on electrical system repair or replacement of alternators, starters, DMI and strobe lights. Ensures that all hazardous waste and materials are properly stored and/or disposed as per DHEC regulations. Containers must be properly labeled. Repairs vehicles during service calls that require repair before movement. Performs welding and fabrication as needed for repairs on various equipment making modifications to equipment to improve the production of utilizations. Performs electric welding or gas welding. Performs other related duties as required. Repairs or replaces power brake units, master cylinders, power steering pumps and power steering units.

Schedule:
FTE Full-Time, Monday - Friday (8:30 - 5:00)
