A tenth (10th) grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of work experience that involved the independent performance of job duties directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Note: This position requires a
valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License. However, applicants without a Class A
Commercial Driver’s License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class A Commercial Driver’s License are available. Class A Commercial Driver’s License must be attained within six (6) months of placement in the position.
Mechanical experience on heavy equipment.
Performs maintenance and repairs to heavy equipment such as motor graders, bulldozers, athey loaders, barber green paving machine, excavator, leeboy paving machines, backhoes, and front-end loaders. Diagnoses and repairs large and small gas and diesel engines used in heavy equipment. Repairs manual and hydrostatic drivelines and transmissions on heavy equipment. Performs maintenance and repairs on slope mowers and hydro axe mowers. Performs small cutting and welding jobs on
equipment. Responds to emergency service calls on equipment. Provides guidance,
direction, and training to subordinate mechanics. Performs other related duties as required by immediate supervisor.
