Requirements:

A bachelor's degree and two (2) years of work experience in occupational safety and health programs; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid motor vehicle operator's license.

Job Description:

Performs periodic shop, yard, building, work zone, equipment, environmental, etc., inspections to ensure compliance with appropriate state and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations. Conducts unannounced SCDOT work crew inspections. Plans and conducts monthly safety meetings. Instructs unit employees in required health and safety courses including but not limited to CPR, first aid, new employee safety orientation, flagger, bloodborne pathogen, split rim, hazard communications, and more. Advises organizational leadership of uncorrected safety deficiencies and recommends methods for correction. Monitors organizational unit CDL operation for compliance with Federal, State and Agency requirements. Assists with CDL training. Prepares and issues appropriate inspection reports. Investigates injuries and vehicle equipment accidents to determine cause and makes recommendation for
improving safety and accident prevention. Performs follow up investigations to determine if corrective actions have been taken. Assists with safety campaigns and other safety educational programs. Performs related additional duties as required.

Monday - Friday (8:30 - 5:00)/ Full-Time
