High school graduate with a minimum of four years supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be able to think critically and have excellent communication skills. Experience in security or public safety preferred. Must possess or be eligible for a valid South Carolina driver's license.
Under general supervision is responsible for the 24 hour security of Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. Manages Public Safety Officers, Receptionists, Night Watchmen and parking lots. Demonstrates excellent communication with staff and guests. Provides leadership and supervision to the Public Safety Department. Coordinates department schedules, meetings, payroll and special event staffing. Provides guidance and training to Public Safety staff through written policies and procedures and direct instruction. Serves as primary contact for any Public Safety needs. Also serves as Riverbanks Zoo and Garden?s Primary Safety Officer. Plans, leads, and coordinates the Safety Committee meetings and all functions of this committee. Implements appropriate safety protocols and policies that work within Riverbanks growing operation. Will conduct various safety drills and train staff on different safety issues. Will work closely with other managers and department heads for both public safety needs and safety concerns. Reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
