JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must have and maintain a SC Driver’s License and the ability to maintain
standards for insurability
• Daily completion of required documentation
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
• Demonstrated computer Skill
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills
• Within 24 months, obtain and maintain pertinent Operator Qualifications and successfully perform job related skills as required.
Desired qualifications:
• Associates Degree in a Technical Field
• 3 years’ experience in natural gas industry.
• Possess and maintain a valid state of South Carolina commercial driver's license.
• Electrical experience
• Heavy equipment operation
• Welding Experience
Physical Requirements:
• Work is minimally strenuous but may require exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body; will involve walking or standing for extended periods of time. Primarily works outdoors and may involve working during inclement weather. Must be able to walk over uneven terrain.
• Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and out-town, as needed.
Under guidance of the Senior Technician, responds and repairs gas leaks, performs safe and professional repair and servicing of natural gas appliances for residential
and commercial customers. Reports to the Field Customer Service Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
% Of Time Performed Major responsibilities and specific job duties
40% • Performs servicing of natural gas appliances for residential customers. Diagnoses malfunctions in and performs minor natural gas appliance repairs, cuts on and off gas at the meter and install residential meters.
30% • Receives and responds to inquiries, requests, and complaints from customers; provides information or refers problems to appropriate personnel.
10% • Act as a first responder to natural gas emergencies. Investigation of carbon monoxide, gas leak complaints; grade leaks, and repair cut service lines.
10% • Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various records and reports including work orders, leak reports, time sheets, wiring diagrams, vehicle maintenance reports, parts lists, daily work reports, etc.
10% • Primarily interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the Installation Foremen, Supervisors, co-workers, and customers.
