Wages/Salary: $35,000- $ 39,000 annually
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, mass communication or related field, with 3-5 years of professional experience in newswriting or public relations, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Communications experience with DSLR cameras and social media platforms required. A valid driver's license and safe driving history. Must have strong skills in providing excellent customer service and demonstrate strong ethics.
Experience in academia preferred.
Expert communication skills and knowledge of Associated Press style, with superb writing, interviewing and editing skills. Must be able to meet deadlines while handling multiple assignments. Must have knowledge of basic photography principles. Comfortable familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, with Adobe Creative suite a plus.
As a member of the University’s creative services team, the staff writer is responsible for developing written content and information that promotes the news, achievements and research of Lander University’s students, faculty, staff, alumni and donors via print, broadcast and online media.
Position Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
