Skills/Education:
- HS Diploma required, degree in printing or graphic arts is preferred
- Industry design knowledge or trends and market preferences
- Can follow detailed instructions and work independently to achieved desired design and color
- Good math skills
- High quality standards
- Must attain an acceptable rating on the color acuity test
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Experience working with computers/graphic design programs (Adobe Creative Suites a plus)
- Good housekeeping/Safety Record
- Dependable; willingness to work flexible hours if necessary
- Experience with coating and printing processes is a strong plus
- Good verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical personnel
- Attention to detail and good documentation a must
Primary Function:
To style designs by working closely with Designer/Color Development Manager to identify optimal design, coloration, and construction of internal and external samples. This is a “hands on” job working in the color development lab. Development work is done with printing design proof plates on the desired topcoat finish, along with using specific ink chemistry.
Major Responsibilities:
- Works with CCL-Design Clinton and customers to develop new designs
- Work with Designer and/or Color Development Manager to determine optimal conditions and coloration for each sample
- Formulates process to have seamless transition to manufacturing/production
- Prepares sample packets for existing and potential customers.
- Develops grain and color formulas using the full array of available dispersions
- Prints samples using Flatbed Gravure Proof Press
- Laminates high quality samples using Flatbed Laminator
- Works with CCL sales and marketing to identify and implement best combination of materials for customer samples
- Ensures quality of samples produced consistently represents the full capability of our sample production process
- Leads or supports “First Time Runs” production runs as necessary
- Performs additional responsibilities directly related to the development, revision and production of samples for internal and/or external customers
- Refocuses quickly when priorities change.
