Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to read blueprints and layout sheets. High degree of proficiency in using all types of variable measuring instruments to include calipers, micrometers, verniers, etc. Must be able to perform shop mathematical functions and trigonometry. Must be familiar with general machining practices. Must be familiar with heat treat processes. Must have served a recognized toolmaking apprenticeship or equivalent. Must be able to make complex tools, gauges, and fixtures from blueprints and sketches. Must have high level general knowledge of material and available tooling. Must possess good communication and interaction skills.
Must have demonstrated ability to work in a team oriented environment. Must have a minimum of 5 years experience as a Tool Maker. CNC experience preferred.

Job Description:

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Working from blueprints, work orders, and verbal instructions, plans sequence of operations gathering necessary material to complete job.
Lays out work making exacting calculations as required or locate correct dimensions on tool in process. Sets up and operates appropriate machine tool (mills, grinders, lathes, drill presses etc.) to perform the variety of functions necessary to complete the tool in process. As required for specific tools, performs hand bench operation such as lapping, fitting, and assembly. Checks finished tools for dimensional accuracy using micrometers, dial indicators, optical comparators, sine plates, sine bars, toolmaker microscopes and other types of fixed and variable measuring instruments. Provides training, assistance, and instruction to other team members.
Selects necessary materials and tooling to complete job.
Performs other duties as required. Maintains neat and orderly work area. Works from a weekly shop schedule.
Manages schedules to meet delivery commitments.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES (as required):
Writes CNC programs which includes calculating required speeds, feeds and transition points for workpiece.
Designs and schedules acquisition of all special tooling needed. Identifies, designs, and builds fixturing concepts required to complete job. Set up and operate conventional CNC EDM machine (preferred)

Varies around the core hours of 2.00p - 10.00p. Must be flexible
