Requirements:

A 10th grade education and two and one-half (2.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resource Regulations.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement. (NOTE): This position requires a Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement. However, qualified applicants without a Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with Commercial Driver's License are available.

Job Description:

Operates chip spreader unit associated with maintenance reclamation operations and other chip seal operations throughout District Two. Operates water truck associated with maintenance reclamation operations throughout District Two. Performs various maintenance tasks (including ditch work, slope mowing, limb trimming, patching, etc.) involving manual labor in Greenwood County during the winter months or when reclamation activities have ceased due to equipment breakdowns or weather. Flags traffic during road repairs to control flow of traffic to protect workers, general public, and equipment. Operates standard dump truck with snow plow attachment and sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges. Performsother related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor. Operates standard and tandem dump trucks to transport material and to pull trailer to haul equipment to and from job sites throughout District Two. Conducts and documents pre-operation vehicle/equipment inspection and daily service of spreader unit. Trains in the operation of other equipment, including smooth steel wheel, pneumatic, or sheepsfoot rollers, motorgrader, and self-propelled stabilizer/recycler. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment as outlined in equipment manuals and SCDOT's servicing intervals.
