Requirements:

A 10th grade education; or an approved acceptable equivelance in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid commercial driver's license. (Note): This position requires a class A commercial driver's license. However, applicants without a class A commercial driver's license will be considered if no qualified applicants with a class A commercial driver's license are available. However, applicants are required to obtain a class A commercial driver's license within six (6) months of
employment. May be required to work overtime, nights, weekends or holidays, and during inclement weather or other emergencies.

Job Description:

Under general supervision, helps skilled trades workers perform repairs, maintenance, or construction of State Maintained Roadways. Operates motorized equipment used in the maintenance of highways and bridges or the movement of materials, supplies and equipment. Performs maintenance tasks requiring a limited degree of professional skill. Assists with concrete and asphalt driveway installations, ditching and base repairs on SC DOT right-ofways. Assists in paving driveways, patching potholes, leveling roadways, ditching operations and laying pipe using equipments. Performs other related duties as required.
