Requirements:

A 10th grade education and two and one-half (2.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.

A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License are available. 

Job Description:

Trains to operate a water truck associated with maintenance reclamation operations throughout District Two. Trains to operate asphalt distributor during reclamation operations. Performs various maintenance tasks including ditch work, slope mowing, limb trimming, and patching in Greenwood County during winter months or when reclamation activities have ceased due to equipment breakdowns, or weather. Operates standard and tandem dump trucks to transport material and to pull trailers to haul equipment to and from the job sites throughout the District. Operates standard dump truck with snow plow attachment and sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges. Flags traffic during road repairs to control flow of traffic to protect workers, general public, and equipment. Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor. Operates chip spreader unit associated with maintenance reclamation operations and other chip seal operations throughout District Two. Conducts and documents pre-operations vehicle/equipment inspection and daily service of assigned equipment. Trains in the operation of other equipment, such as smooth steel wheel, pneumatic or sheepsfoot rollers, motorgrader, and self-propelled stabilizer/recycler.
