A 10th grade education and five and one-half (5.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class ?A? Commercial Driver?s License are available.
Assumes supervisor's duties and responsibilities during their absence. Devises a schedule for work to be performed by maintenance crew. Conducts safety inspections on all assigned vehicles and equipment. This includes the daily service on mowing equipment which entails minor repairs and fueling as needed. Sets up traffic control according to SCMUTCD standards to warn motorist of road work ahead. Produces daily records of work performed and materials used, records such as HMMS and the maintenance requests and complaints forms. Acts as lead worker of a maintenance crew performing routine and right of way clearing operations. Operates boom mowers, slope mowers and/ or batwing mowers in roadside and right-of-way clearing operations as necessary. Performs other related duties as necessary.
