Requirements:

A high school diploma and four and one-half (4.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement. (NOTE): This position requires a Commercial Driver's License. However, qualified applicants without a Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with Commercial Driver's License are available.
Experience in spraying herbicide following SCDOT IRVM Plan. Experience in calibrating a variety of herbicide spraying equipment.

Job Description:

Trains all District 2 herbicide licensed personnel in proper spraying methods and calculations in accordance with Department regulations. Conducts periodic meetings with herbicide applicators to address problems and concerns along with ensuring applications are in accordance with IRVM guidelines. Orders and manages herbicide for all District 2 counties. Reviews and updates herbicide inventories for District 2. Investigates complaints of herbicide applications from property owners and recommends action to be taken. Works closely with Clemson University's
Department of Pesticide Regulations to ensure adherence to State and SCDOT regulations. Rebuilds and improves computerized injector systems on herbicide sprayer trucks for District. Maintains daily records of work performed and materials used, records including HMMS and the maintenance requests and complaints forms. Works with applicators in applications of herbicide as well as operate vehicles in controlling undesirable vegetation growth. Supervises crew in manufacturing of brine and ensures inventory needs during snow/ice storms. Ensures all herbicides equipment and inventory is maintained in accordance with SCDOT regulations and guidelines.
